Taldea Sarah G. Hualderen (Primary PI)  jarraibideei kasu eginez
2020/10/30

Bidai hau 2020ko urrian hasi zen, taldekide guztiak Iruñeko planetarioan bildu gintuztenean, gure lehen prestakuntza-oinarria. Hilabete horretan hobeto ezagutu genuen elkar, bakoitzak Nafarroako hainbat ikastetxetan ikasi baikenuen, taldea sortu eta espero genuen guztia pixkanaka ezagutzen.

Proiektu hau ezin izango zen gauzatu gure arduradunen laguntzarik gabe: Primary PI eta Secondary PI roletan Sarah G. Hualde eta Miren Karmele Gomez Garmendia dira bide honetan zehar gidatu eta trebatu gaituztenak. Aurrerago, CSIC-Idab-ko Paco Muñoz eta Edurne Baroja ikasketa-bidaia honekin bat egingo dute, Istructor-en roletan, lehenbiziko taldean parte hartu zuenNahia Ezarekin batera.

Sarah G. Hualde iGEM-i buruzko azalpenak ematen

Urria hilabete garrantzitsua izan zen, behin eragiketen oinarrian gure proiektua zertan oinarrituko zen erabaki genuelako. Sarah-k Navarra-Biogalaxy-ren aurretiazko proiektuak aurkeztu zizkigun. Hemen laburpen motz bat uzten dizuegu; 2018an, Navarra BioGalaxy lehen taldeak ISSn proteinak ekoitzi eta arazteko landareak nola erabil daitezkeen galdetu zuen. 2019an, Navarra BioGalaxy bigarren taldeak hainbat irtenbide proposatu zituen landareak Marteko baldintza gogorretatik bizirik ateratzeko, hala nola grabitatea, ur falta, lurraren ph-a eta erradiazio maila altuak.

Proiektu horiei buruz gehiago jakin nahi baduzue, berrikusi haien Wikiak:

Gure aurrekoen ikerketa-ildoak ezagutu ondoren, erabakia hartzeko prest geunden.

Edizio honetan, aurreko proiektuarekin haratago joan nahi dugu. Marteren aurkako ezaugarrietako batean jarri dugu arreta. Planeta gorriko erradiazio-maila altuetan oinarritzen da gure proiektua. Horregatik, erradiazioak landareetan duen eragina ikertu dugu, eta biologia sintetikoa erabili dugu landareak genetikoki aldatzeko eta erradiaziotik babesteko gaitasuna handitzeko.

Gurekin zatoz?

Bidaia honetan gogotsu jarraitzea espero dugu, eta gu bezain ondo pasatzea.

October 2020: Arrival at the Base.

This journey began in October of 2020, when all the team members gathered at Pamplona’s Planetarium, our first training base. During that month we got to know each other better, since each one of us studied in different schools in Navarra, creating a team and gradually becoming familiar with everything that awaited us.

Navarra-Biogalaxy3 working

This project could not have been possible without the help of those responsible, Primary PI and Secondary PI, Sarah G. Hualde and Miren Karmele Gomez Garmendia, who have led and trained us along this path. Later, Paco Muñoz and Edurne Baroja from CSIC-IdAB would join this learning journey, in the roles of Instructors.

October was an important month as, once at the base of operations, we decided on what our project would be based on. Sarah, presented us with the previous NavarraBiogalaxy projects and explained what they consisted of. In 2018, the first Navarra BioGalaxy team wondered how plants could be used to produce and purify proteins on the ISS. In 2019, the second Navarra BioGalaxy team proposed different solutions to make plants survive the hostile conditions of Mars, such as gravity, lack of water, the pH of the earth and high levels of radiation.

If you are interested in knowing more about these projects, you can check their Wikis:

Once the lines of investigation of our predecessors were known, we were ready and prepared to make a decision.

This edition,  we want to develop the previous project further. We have focused on one of the hostile conditions of Mars. Our project is focused on the high levels of radiation on the red planet. For this reason, we have investigated the effect of radiation on plants, and we have used synthetic biology to genetically modify plants and increase their ability to defend themselves.

Will you join us?

We hope that you will follow us on this journey with enthusiasm, and that you enjoy doing it as much as we do.
